Over the past few weeks I’ve been mostly working on pathfinding. The sapiens will now avoid obstacles like trees or walls, find their way through narrow gaps like doorways or corridors, and can even walk up planks and find their way around a maze of floating platforms in 3D space. This is all done using A* pathfinding and a procedurally created navmesh.

I’ve also been thinking about language. When the sapiens communicate with each other, it’s looking likely that I’ll be using the constructed language Toki Pona. It’s a really sweet language that fits the game perfectly, and opens up many possibilities. You can learn more about it on the Toki Pona Wikipedia page
